MAP Testing
Starting in the fall of 2018, Hillel embarked on administering the MAPA Growth assessment tool from NWEA as part of their data-driven, adaptive, personalized hashkafa toward education. It is administered 3 times a year and provides valuable information on each of our learners.
Hillel administers the MAPA® Growth assessment on an iPad. We give students MAP Growth tests to determine students' instructional levels and to measure academic growth throughout the school year in reading comprehension, writing skills and mathematics.
MAP Growth tests are unique in that they adapt to every child's level of learning. If a child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This results in a detailed picture of what the child knows and is ready to learn whether it is on, above, or below grade level.
Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about every child's learning, it's easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly. Following each testing period, the parents receive a report showing the child's growth, which parents can review with the child's teacher for more insight.
