A Sense of Wonder

The Early Childhood Education Department of Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy provides an opportunity for young children to learn, play and grow together in a Jewish environment that encourages a sense of wonder and discovery. The mission of the ECE is to provide a high quality, individualized education in a Torah setting. We are committed to creating a learning environment that supports academic excellence, Ahavat Hashem, Medinat Yisrael and Kelal Yisrael.

The developmental curriculum seeks to support the foundation for achievement as it promotes independent learning, stimulates creativity, builds self-esteem, and develops problem-solving skills. The goals for the Early Childhood’s Judaic component are defined by the awareness of G-d in everyday life, such as identifying with Shabbat, chagimtefillah and brachot, and the values and creative expression to develop an appreciation and knowledge of Jewish customs, traditions, Hebrew language and the use of the Hebrew language.

Hillel’s ECE program is fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Accreditation provides parents with third-party assurance that our school provides a safe and nurturing environment promotingthe physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of young children, according to NAEYC's "Criteria for High-Quality Early Childhood Program.”

Our well-trained and caring staff is committed to meeting the needs of all children in the program helping them to realize their potential as dynamic learners. We accomplish this by planning activities and experiences appropriate for the individual child as well as the group in a setting of well-equipped classrooms and outdoor spaces that support exploration and discovery.
